East Runton Railway Bridge

This substantial structure was part of the double track triangle completer in 1906 west of Cromer. It was built by the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway, owned by the Great Eastern and the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway - thus a joint railway partly owned by a joint railway company!

This was the side of the triangle that permitted the GER to avoid Cromer Beach Station and run direct trains, detached at Cromer High direct into Sheringham (M&GN). It was opened in August 1906 and was built to high standards to handle "Poppyland" express traffic.
