Under Siege

We have had the wildlife relocation people out here today to set traps for the raccoon who keeps breaking into our screened porch. He has damaged one whole section of screen, so clearly he needs to find a new home. This, along with the 6 yellow jacket traps that we have placed around the yard, is starting to feel like a siege. Because of my husband’s severe reaction to the yellow jacket stings in July and his love of gardening, we need to be very vigilant in knowing if there are any around. We had the nest removed right after we were stung, but unfortunately, after 36 hours of the new traps, all have yellow jackets in them. Desensitization starts next week and will probably take 18 months.

This is an old brass lock that I picked up in a shop in Savannah last winter. It was quite tarnished and after polishing, it is clear that it was well used. The shop owner estimated that it was from the turn of the last century. It still works well. The raised piece moves to the side to expose the keyhole. It came in handy for a blip this evening and seemed to be perfect for sepia tone. I bet I could use this for my gym locker. :-)
