south San Francisco

Above Reno there was nothing to be seen because the fires burning near Yosemite sent a thick blue haze into the valley. Above San Francisco I got several nice shots but I was attracted to the pictures that showed the areas south of San Francisco. Here on former wetlands the city creates new land for building sites, also by dumping trash into the bay to raise the ground level.
The same thing has been done in Tokyo bay , there they are even building living areas, not only industrial sites. But Tokyo and San Francisco are in a highly risky area because of the earthquake danger. No one knows how the trash underneath the new buildings in the bays will react in case of a bigger quake...
