It's Grim Up North

Coot

Visiting a bird hide is like going on holiday.
You may have experienced arriving in your holiday destination to be told: "You should have been here last week, the weather was wonderful". (This happens to us all the time, though we do spend 99% of our holidays in Scotland.)

It seems that when you arrive in a hide you will be told by all the friendly people inside: "You should have been here ten minutes ago, you would have seen the otters."

Anyway, here we have a reliable, been-here-all-the-time coot. Or possibly a moorhen, the sun was too bright to tell.
