A vegetable sea horse!

For trees with such beautiful flowers, members of the magnolia family certainly have rather strange seed pods! This early, large-flowered but unknown pink magnolia is covered with seed at the moment, a startling contrast to the brilliant blue sky on one of the warmest days of the summer.
