Wednesday: Sarajevo

First stop today was Sarajevo, in Bosnia and Hercegovina, about a six hour drive from Zagreb.

It's always interesting what changes occur as soon as you cross a border. Bosnia has no motorways to speak of, so apart from a small stretch just outside Sarajevo, most of the drive was on one lane roads. And people here overtake in circumstances you would not believe! All I will say is that, watching others, there were a lot of sharp intakes of breath in our car!

Arrived in Sarajevo in time to check in, deposit bags and head out for the evening. So far, we have seen the old quarter which has a pretty touristy feel to it. Sarajevo is, quite rightly, often called 'Little Istanbul'.
