Yes

Never in all the years I have lived in Scotland have I known such gung-ho optimism.
A journalist friend, who also happens to be a well respected historian, described it as a "frenzy".

Whatever.

There is no mistaking the fact that the Scots-forgive the horsy analogy- have the bit between their teeth and tails in the air as they race towards the finishing line next week.

What worries my historian friend is that in a neck and neck finish it could take only one vote to decide the future of Scotland, and the UK.

This photo was taken in genteel Bridge of Allan, a place not noted for its radicalism, so it was quite a surprise to find this huge banner just down the road.
