Robin Barclay - one a day

Sloe-ly does it

Some sloe (blackthorn) bushes fruited well this year, others didn't. I found some good bushes by a little-used path and couldn't leave them alone any longer in case somebody else picked them ahead of me. So - now they are picked I have got a couple of bottles of cheap gin (you don't need the expensive stuff already flavored with something else) and divided the sloes between the two lots, in well sealed jars. They can be left in a dark cupboard for the alcohol to pull out all the flavor over a couple of months, ready for Christmas and New Year.
