Being Boring

I went into college this morning and Sarah came too and sat in the library while I worked on the computers. Then we treated ourselves to lunch at Glencaple. Coming out of the cafe, we saw that the tide was rushing in, and we had just missed the tidal bore which had passed minutes before. We drove into Dumfries, 4 miles upriver, and here the level of the Nith was so low that the muddy banks showed on either side. We went into DGMA for about 20 minutes, during which time the tide rushed in and we missed the bore yet again!
Tomorrow is the year's highest tide and there is an event to celebrate - it's called Nith raid. Lots of small boats will sail up the Nith from Carsethorn and there will be a marching Balkan band and entertainment along the Whitesands.
We have just been up in Dunscore for another meal out - the Harvest Supper. Everyone brought a dish of food (ideally made from local produce) and we had a Fairtrade wine tasting. The proceeds went towards twinning our church toilet. . Not boring at all.
Here's Sarah at Glencaple.
