Revival

Time warp day. I went to the wonderful Goodwood Revival Meeting at the Sussex race circuit with Ford. It was glorious weather, and the whole event was a fabulous fest of nostalgia, with men in military uniforms, spivvy suits and tweed jackets, and ladies in posh '50s frocks and '60s mini-skirts. Classic cars raced round the circuit, historic planes flew overhead, and everyone was in jolly mood.

A highlight of the day was a passenger ride round the track in a Ford GT40, with the lovely Ivan, one of the custodians of Ford's heritage collection, at the wheel. You shoehorn yourself into the snug cockpit, and bake in the heat of this historic Le Mans racing car, but what a very special experience.

While we were having lunch, this singing trio came to serenade us. Their dazzling dresses really seemed to capture the spirit of the day. The Revival is on all weekend, a step back in time to motoring's golden era.
