Abel Tasman National Park

Drove to Abel Tasman National Park today. What a beautiful place! It combines forest with lots of small and very pretty cove beaches. We didn't have much time but managed to walk and run as far a Anchorage Hut where we had a packed lunch and thought we would get the water taxi back at 3.30pm. The walk this far was 12.4km.

The water taxi arrived, we took our shoes and socks off, paddled in the cold sea to get on it ... then asked the price ... 36 NZ dollars each! Decided this was too expensive and that we would walk back. A 2 hour 15 min route march back and another 12.4km and we were back at the van. Slightly sore feet but we made it before dark. Moral of this story ... agree the price first ... we're sure the other people on board hadn't paid that much!

Drove to a sea front DOC campsite at Ruby Bay for the night.
