Objects of Desire

A difficult day; taking photographs of some of Mum's most prized possessions ready for sale. This is from a record player. I know, you remember those music devices and the 12 inch plastic discs that provided about 40 minutes of music (if you played both sides!).

One of the items was her Bang and Olufsen music system, bought in 1990. Amazing to see that despite the passage of years this system still looks modern, brushed steel, smoked glass and no dials or buttons to be seen anywhere. The covers lift up elegantly when you touch the word "Load' that shines through the glass when the system is turned on. Truly this company was ahead of it's time when this was designed.

I found the whole experience quite disheartening.
