It was Heritage Open Days this weekend and Ashworth Chapel was one of the places I saw. It's 500 years old this year and in a bit of a lonely position on a lane across the moors, with only farm folk in its congregation for most of its life. Today was the harvest festival, hence the decorated pulpit and the fruit around the base of the organ pipes. We had a lovely walk through the Naden valley to get there and even though we missed the path to the chapel first time round, found a cafe at the top where we'll be going again.
