Dreaming Chimneys of Cambridge

This is the Cavendish laboratory, not what most people imagine when I tell them where I work.

Despite being one of the ugliest buildings in Cambridge is provides fairly decent accommodation for the University's Physics Department.

The Cavendish Laboratory was named in honour of the physicist Henry Cavendish, by his relative William Cavendish, the 7th Duke of Devonshire, who gave the sum of £6,300 in 1870 to build a laboratory, the original buildings of which now house a number of other departments. The laboratory moved to its current site in the 1970s.

The Laboratory is associated with 29 Nobel laureates, more than most entire countries (except USA, UK, Germany & France).
