FIBA visits Madrid

Although Spain is most well known for their soccer, the 2014 FIBA Basketball tournament was held in the city. The finals were Sunday 14 September 2014. Two huge fan zone areas were set up. One area in the Plaza de Callao had a BBVN sponsored NBA event. After waiting for an hour to enter, Michelle and I ran into a live video conference with Michael Carter-Williams, a former SU basketball player. The MC's were taking questions from the crowd and we were trying so hard to get picked. Unfortunately, we weren't but it was awesome to be able to see a fellow Orangemen. We think we were the only people who actually knew who he was- the rest of the crowd were Spaniards who had to have their questions translated. When MCW was asked what he did on the off season, he said he visits 'Cuse when he can. Of course Michelle and I yelled, which brought a wave of stares. Such a cool coincidence! After the exhibit, Michelle and I went to the other fan zone in the Plaza de Colon. We played different basketball games and won lots of free gear!
Great day touring around Spain!
