Tubular bells

Autumn is definitely on the way - this is Colchicum autumnale 'Album', the white autumn crocus. The whole tube is part of the flower - the ovary is down in the bulb. The first heavy rain will knock it to the ground!

Still no rain after a couple of weeks, though it's been cooler and damper today - I think rain is on the way, maybe towards the end of the week.
