Warley Town Centre

Today I attended a Network Group meeting of the West Yorkshire Archive Service held in the Maypole Inn, Warley, Nr. Halifax.
Warley is a very old township on the hills above Halifax.
This is the Maypole Inn on the left, the chuch in the background is now four apartments and the refurbished drinking fountain (although no longer a drinking foiuntain) is in the centre of the road.
This was the site of the Warley Maypole for many years, but when the last one blew down in the winter of 1898/99 it was decided to replace it with s trough, lamp and drinking fountain.

The mural on the wall of the pub is quite noteworthy - I blipped it back in May 2013.
