Jay (garrulus glandarius)

The Jay is of the Crow family and is the natural planter of acorns as he stashes away heaps of acorns he has collected in holes and crevices in the ground. He is also very intelligent and watches garden birds feed off peanuts and then does the same. The Jay is also a killer of smaller and young birds so he is not always liked.

This bird was sitting in the crab apple tree in the garden where the peanuts hang in their container!
