Last trip across the bay...

Today is our last day in Hong Kong and we fly back to London overnight. Sadly for our trip up to the Peak it turned out to be a very hazy day so our pictures from the top were not that interesting. We started off by catching the wrong bus, the no.15 to the Peak but not to the Peak Tram. Still it was an interesting journey as it gave us a snap shot of architecture and life in Hong Kong Island which as yet we haven't explored. It was amazingly hot up there and we in the end did not stray far from the Peak view and Galleria Buildings as it was just too hot to contemplate walking far. Just as well because after done the observation decks and the shops we decided to go for a meal and during dinner there was thunder and lightning and a load of rain which lasted for about an hour and the thought of getting soaked on our last day (ie. apart from sweat) was more than a little disconcerting. By the time we had caught the peak tram down it had cleared and we able to take a few final images of Hong Kong and its skyscrapers and have a final drink at the cafe above the Maritime Museum.

My final blip is of the Star Ferry across the bay just before we board it to return to Kowloon. We have been on the ferry at least twice a day and I never cease to be amazed at how cheap Hong Kong public transit is. It only costs us as concessions less than 15p to ride on the deluxe deck of the ferry ie. the upper deck. Even our fare to the islands which is nearly an hour's journey only cost the both of us 30p.

Farewell Hong Kong and China. It's been an amazing trip. If you want to catch up with our travels you can do so by going back to my entry of 5th September and flicking through the blips as I have now caught with all the days I missed because of lack of WiFi.
