And so to bed...

This is a day I'll never forget. As my daughter gets ready for slumber and I snap a sneaky blip of her bed before she climbs in, our lives have changed forever.

She's just back from London, having accepted a psychiatric nursing job in Brixton. Her wings have been spreading this last year and, as I picked her up from the train station, I gazed proudly and tearfully on the beautiful, capable, confident and eager young woman I've been expecting all along.

As we drove to the polling station to state our intention for the future of our country, our union felt even more significant. It's been a long and emotional day.

And so to bed.
