Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Roy Orbison and the Teen Kings - Rockhouse (recorded June 1956)
Continuing my look at the artists approved by the Rockers (as in Mods and Rockers), this is Roy Orbison, known later for his brooding melancholy ballads, but who was discovered, like many others, by Sam Phillips at Sun Records in Memphis TN, when he was a rockabilly artist. Rockhouse was recorded at his second session for Sun, and was written by Orbison and Conway Twitty. The nifty guitar is by Johnny Wilson. It later appeared on the cash-in album Roy Orbison At The Rock House, but with overdubbed instruments and female chorus.
