Sate of the Art - Art of the State

Hard to explain in a few words - Our local art museum launched an exhibit where
any North Carolina artist may participate, one piece per artist, with the only criteria being either born or living in the state. Gina and I volunteered to work during the 24 hour 'collection of works' period. Our time was from 8:00 PM until midnight. We left the museum at 2:30 Saturday morning. It just dawned on me while writing that I should have taken some shots after midnight for Saturday;s blip.

Over 600 artists so far are participating. Curators from 4 American museums spoke with the artists individually about their work. They of course were on the lookout for young unknown creative individuals hoping to discover the next …….

Speaking of none of the above, I did submit THIS imageI and had a nice chat with the curator of New York's MOMA PS1 museum. All fun, and FREE. Tonight is the opening reception.

This event was extremely well organized. The pieces were being hung all through the registration period - large, small, 2D, 3D, of every imaginable material. Not too many photographs. This worker walked by as I was registering artists. Had to to get a quick snap.
