My sister travelled from rural Somerset by local bus, long distance coach and suburban train to reach us today, and I met her at the station. It is possible that nowhere on her route was as grand as this station, built in Victorian times and thankfully never replaced. Many stops on the line are now modern monstrosities but this one, at Leatherhead, remains.
Although we speak on the phone every week, it is good to catch up properly and we had lots to talk about.
