Looming over Lombard Street

The "walkie-talkie" building is like a futuristic alien presence towering over the tiny humans scurrying away through the narrow jumble of buildings on Lombard Street. This is the building that was notorious for the solar glare problem on it's southern facing side (on the right & not visible in this image) because its concave shape focused intense sunlight, sufficient to damage parked cars on the street below. In this image, taken in the evening, the sun reflects off the western facing facade, looking like a malevolent probing eye.


It reminds me of one of those 50's era sci-fi films such as The Day the Earth Stood Still.
