The architect of this magnificent building certainly wasn't a fan of minimalism!

The building as a whole is fantastically ornate. It was built in 1885 by Thomas Holloway following a public debate inviting suggestions as to "How best to spend a quarter of a million pounds or more." It says so much about the wealthy Victorians!

And to think this is where my little boy will be spending the next 3 years. We settled him in and then left him to adjust to his new life. He is in a group of 8 flats which share a communal kitchen/ seating area. When we left 2 girls had arrived in their flats and according to a text later on in the day another 4 girls had arrived. I really hope that the 8th occupant turned out to be a boy!

An update on yesterdays 'strange goings-on' - when we got back today they had all disappeared and I am none the wiser.
