Anatole's blips

Watch out - the Vagabonds are out!

These lovely craft were showing their prowess in the light airs today. This one almost exactly like it's 1907 forebears, but the others looking more up-to-date with modern lightweight Kevlar sails. A superb elegant dinghy design with so much sail area they had to invent a new way of keeping it upright by hanging off the side on the end of a rope. The vagabond was the first racing class to adopt the sliding seat and later on, the trapeze.

All made necessary by the enormous 45' mast that without going to a portrait picture, simply doesn't stand a chance of fitting nicely on a photograph.
