Working Class Hero

An unlikely house for a working class hero, perhaps, but this is the house that John Lennon lived in with his Aunt Mimi and Uncle George, from the age of 5 until he was 22. Just around the corner from Strawberry Field (see yesterday's blip), it is a relatively rare Liverpool phenomenon- a semi detached suburban house. It would be only too easy to pass by without a thought, but the blue plaque might catch the eye. Sadly this plaque could only be put up because John is now dead. He was of course tragically killed outside his flat in New York facing Central Park, which now has its own Strawberry Field memorial garden.

This house was bought by Yoko Ono and then donated to the National Trust.
