Home for the night

The starlings are roosting on the superstructure of the control tower at the BC Ferries so they're home for the night. I wish we were. After a long day's drive, we got to the ferry in plenty of time for the 5:00pm sailing to Swartz Bay, hoping to make the connection with the 7:00 pm to Salt Spring. Unfortunately there was an overload. If they had been able to squeeze two more cars on the ferry that carries more than 450 vehicles, we would have made it; quite a few others were left behind as well. So we're on the 7:00 pm ferry to Swartz Bay now and may or may not make the 9:00pm connection, which will get us home just before 10:00. It's frustrating to be that close to making the ferry, and it's happened to us many times. I'm hoping that we don't have to stay overnight in a motel again because G isn't feeling well and has a spasm in his back. We've driven almost 3000 km in 5 days (one day in Olds when we didn't drive anywhere), seen a lot of country, and best of all had a visit with Krista, which was the whole purpose of the trip.
