We're doing reclaimed flooring to our bedrooms. The materials we salvaged for free from a fifties house. The owner was happy someone did the job for him and we were happy to get to try this out without putting extra money in it. These oak slats were nailed through like they did back then so we took the nails off, turn them bottom up and nail again using the same holes. Then it will be puttying the nail holes, sanding smooth and clear varnish (a bit of negotiation on that one but hubby won this time).

It's a hobby of saving a couple of trees and less dumping to the landfill. Even though I wondered will we just make more landfill by ripping the old thick carpet off but no. A little ad to the Craigslist's free stuff section and our carpet got a new owner in no time. Very pleased about that.
