A fairy battleground

This afternoon I was out among the sand dunes in search of the fungi known as earth tongues. One area of the dunes had dozens of them, sticking out from the sand, like the black bloated tongues of dead troglodytes. Among them was this single splash of bright yellow, another fungal fruiting body, the yellow fairy club Clavulinopsis helvola
