Peach Season

We arrived in Yakima at the tail end of peach, my very favorite fruit, season. There were still a few left on our friend's tree and he was out this afternoon picking some of the ripest for us to eat at breakfast. These ones didn't quite make the cut and were left on the branch to become even more flavorful in the coming days. He was amazed at the number of peaches his tree produced this year, something to do with a summer that was the hottest on record according to the local newspaper. That trend is going to stop while we are here. Today was nice, sunny and warm, but it is supposed to cool down considerably and potentially rain in the coming days. Not exactly the weather we are used to, but it is the end of summer and, unfortunately, peach season.
