Treats from Holland...

A couple of months ago, my cousin Simone's daughter Isa suggested we swap a package of goodies. I thought this was a good idea. She was after some Canadian cookies and a T-shirt so I sent a pair of each plus some hickory sticks, some candy bars, and a couple of lapel pins and buttons. Today, her package arrived. A T-shirt of Amsterdam, a flowery cowl for Linda, some Dutch cat food (herring, trout, etc.), some stroop wafels (syrup waffels), borrel nootjes (pub nuts), kruid noten (spice nuts, which are actually mini cookies), a Holland badge for my backpack, and some chocolate hail (mousies, as we call them, because they resemble mouse droppings. Yes, the Dutch are weird.) for a breakfast sandwich.

Their parcel took only 9 days to get hear. My parcel will take between 4 and 6 weeks says Canada Post. Why then, for about the same money, can we not get it there in the same amount of time? Because Canada Post sucks, that's why.

Anyway, THANK YOU for the lovely treats and gifts!
