The Pepperpot

On the limestone hilltop above the village of Silverdale stands the famous Pepperpot. It was built in 1887 to mark the 50th year of Queen Victoria's reign. In large looking out over Morecambe Bay you should be able to see Heysham Nuclear power station.

The walk up the the Pepperpot from the village is most enjoyable as it passes through the National Trust Eaves Wood which has a very varied habitat.

From time to time the village has considered celebrating anniversaries by building another one next to it for salt. But sadly it has never happened.

The weather today was perfect for walking.
