Medieval faces on Crichton Church

It was Doors Open day in Midlothian, so we started at the old collegiate church at Crichton, a contemporary of the one at Roslyn. I have noted the face frieze only recently - some are quite macabre. We went from there to the old St Nicholas Buccleugh church in Dalkeith High Street, then the nearby St Mary's Episcopal church - all linked with the Douglas (and later Scott) families and Dukes of Buccleugh, who have a nearby palace. Went on to the old Tolbooth, then the Corn Exchange (to be renovated). Nice warm autumn day.
