A concrete love affair

Mount John Observatory

Two of the telescopes that make up the Mount John Observatory 1300 metres above sea level and high above Lake Tekapo. It was here on Tuesday night we observed the incredible Southern Sky and band of the Milky Way with our own eyes! We wanted to pop back to see what it was like during the daytime, and had a coffee at the Astro Cafe! You can see the many peaks of Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park, across the plateau, in the distance!

After this we travelled the 170km's to Methven, and visited the Rakaia Gorge before checking in to our hostel where I blip from now. Last full day with our hire car, and indeed our last but one stop as Christchurch is where we fly home from next week....
