A Knot Garden

This garden is behind the site of New Place, Shakespeare's home in Stratford on Avon from 1597 until his death in 1616. The Elizabethan-style knot garden was created in 1919-20 and incorporates an interweaving design of herbs and shrubs, based on illustrations in the gardening books of Shakespeare's time. I took the opportunity to visit it this afternoon while Tony was at the theatre - a good place to spend some quiet time.
