Dundee, the natural habitat of tiny penguins

Dundee, despite the drizzle, was a pleasant surprise today. It's been a long while since I last pottered around the Dee. Nah, scrap that.

I have never pottered in Dundee.

It's the sort of place that everyone groans at and merely passes through on the way further north. My brother and sister in law recently moved to the grandly titled City of Discovery (or, if you prefer, the more snappy parochial nick-name of Scum-dee). They've found that, on breaking the news to friends, frequently the response is a cocked head in sympathy accompanied with a down-tailed 'oh'. But the generally accepted idea of the grim city is unwarranted. It's a bustling place with impressive buildings.

And they have penguins after all.
