The Saxon Cross and Rudding Gate - Follifoot

The History of Follifoot village, 4 miles south of Harrogate goes back to the 12th century. It gets its name from the Norse language meaning 'Place of horse flight'.

Today Rudding Gate gives access to an number luxury apartments but was originally the southern entrance to the adjacent Rudding Park Estate.
The main part of the estate is now separated from the village by the Harrogate bypass which was constructed in 1992.
