A trip up the coast

We had a very nice day seeing sights up the coast. We stopped at the Umpqua Lighthouse on the property of the U.S. Coast Guard station. It was built in the late 1800's. The light is still working and a definite tourist attraction. Relatives from Arkansas especially enjoyed it since they don't have lighthouses in Arkansas. They went to the museum and learned much of the history of the lighthouse, then took the tour clear to the top of it and got a good look at the light.

We drove on up the coast and drove up far enough to see the Heceta Head Lighthouse. It was a long walk up to it, so they chose to not take the walk. Instead they walked on the beach looking for agates.

On the way back we stopped in Old Town Florence for a delicious meal of fish and chips. It was a very nice day.
