... unfortunately is not yet available. So you'll just have to imagine the heady smell of fermenting grape juice that suffuses our neighbour Christophe's barn, floating temptingly out into the street. He was hanging around waiting for a spare part to arrive, so he gave us a quick guided tour. An eclectic collection of fibreglass, steel, and concrete vats are bubbling away with this year's harvest. He held up a small bottle of cloudy bubblegum-pink liquid -- next year's excellent rosé in the making. S's mum (visiting us for a week) was surprised that these scruffy looking concrete vats with lengths of tubing pumping juice, lees, and wine in and out could produce such an elegant end product.

Maybe I should start a series of our neighbours' workplaces! The light in here was almost as bad as that in M's workshop. But I wanted to keep that wine-dark red, so I didn't convert to mono this time.

In other news we belatedly received and stacked a winter's supply of wood this morning, so we are all set. We won't be lighting the woodburner any time soon though -- it's about 30C today.
