Golden Gates!

In all the time I've lived in these parts, I've seen the signs pointing to Benmore Gardens' "Golden Gates" and wondered at what splendours must have existed in the past. Throughout these 40 years, I've seen only two shabby gateposts, marooned in no-man's land behind another, more utilitarian black fence. Recently, I've learned that the gates were going to reappear, and still more recently I've seen the work being done on the drainage and replanting of the area round the gateposts.

Today, tipped off by a photo on Facebook, we headed over towards the Glen Massan road - and came upon the gates, golden indeed, beaming improbably against a backdrop of conifers.

Worth the wait? I think so!
