First run with the Phnom Penh Hash House Harriers

Today Rob and I ventured on our first Hash House Harrier Run. The club meets every Sunday outside the Railway Station (notable by it's absence of running trains and not much else). We piled into the back of a large lorry and drove out to Oudong, north west of Phnom Penh. After a breezy hour plus ride out of town we finally reached the start point of our run across (and often through the ankle deep water) of the surrounding rice paddies against the backdrop of the stunning Phnom Oudong.

I took this photo when we stopped about a third of the way through to rehydrate, surrounded by small children who had come to look at what the hell all these crazy people were doing running through their village. The next section of the run ended with an ascent up the steep steps to this same temple, past tens of macaques which eyed us warily from their guard posts along the way. The view of the sunset from the top made the thorn in my foot and aches all worthwhile!
