Doors Open Edinburgh has proved very interesting today. Started at 31 Heriot Row where poet and artist Angus Reid had turned into an art installation the stairwell of the family home (a double upper at the top of the long-ago subdivided Georgian townhouse).

Met my parents for a quick look at the Victorian Schoolroom in Brunswick Rd (slate pencils instead of the chalk I remember in primary 1).

Finished at the inspirational Ramp House in Portobello, designed by the architects for their own family. Everyone who was there while I was going round was smiling. A good measure of successful architecture, wouldn't you say?
