The Twitchell

This was always referred to as 'the twitchell' - which is the Nottingham word for an alley or passageway - when we lived in Sherwood, despite actually being substantial enough to have a street name all of it's own (Penhome Avenue.) We used to live in the house directly opposite the top there, on Burnham Street, before we moved on due to the street being a favourite hangout for gangs late at night, schools and other similarly middle class concerns. I walked past when I was down in 'the Wood' today, seeking out a rather good little copy shop on Haydn Road I'd been told would do photocopies onto acetate for screenprinting.
