the day after

Slightly shell shocked this morning. Saturday’s wee outing took its toll.

A lazy breakfast in the Hütte. We had thought of doing another peak, but Dr D’s cold was slowing her down.

Instead we just packed up and headed back - with a brief stop on the way to go up a cablecar for coffee and cake at another mountain top. That was in Sheffau, in the Wilder Kaiser area. A ski resort, so very different to where we’d just been, but lovely to be sitting outside in the sun (20°) at 1,500m on the last weekend of September, drinking coffee and eating Apfelstrüdel.

The Blip is the view of Gamshag (yesterday’s conquest) from the terrace of the Hütte, as the sun caught it about 10am. We went up the south face, which isn’t quite as steep as the one you see - the north face. But the south face gets the sun all afternoon...
