Whimsy. GX1, Leitz Summicron 50mm DR.

When this old tree died on a quiet backstreet in Cambridge, it was designated to become public art. A furniture maker of my acquaintance was commissioned by the City to turn the decayed trunk into Winnie the Pooh's house. The trunk is completely hollow and the side facing the house has a wooden seat and a stuffed bear who lives there. Since the street, despite all the fantasy in the world is still situated in Cambridge, Massachusetts, there is a sign up in the hollow tree advising that this is Winnie the Pooh's house and please not to remove the bear... After some debate with myself I chose to show the stump from the back (street side) on which aspect a slot has been chainsawn through to the hollow interior. I had a consult with my learned friend Wiki - since Wol was not available at short notice;-) - expecting that this was The House at Pooh Corner. But that edifice was built by Pooh and Piglet for old Eeyore... It's complicated. Suffice to say it's a nice piece of whimsy to Blip.
