Today was our first league match against Ebbw Vale in years so i just couldn't miss it. Ebbw have started the season strong where as Newport hadn't even got off the ground. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a photo pass for Eugene Cross Park thanks to NCRphotography and i was looking forward to it.

I was definitely worried about this local derby and i knew Ebbw would throw everything at us. They seemed so organised, even in the warm up they ran around in a circle, all wearing the same kit and chanting at the same time, it was like harmony.

It was time for kick off and Newport needed a good start, they didn't disappoint. it wasn't long before Newport were 10 - 0 up and i was getting excited but Ebbw were having non of it. The rest of the game was very close and there were a lot of penalties. Nearing the end the scores were very close with Newport just out in front. But it wasn't to be Ebbw's day as they missed a penalty, then a great chance at a try and then another penalty. it was a very messy match, but i didn't care, Newport won.
