Polar(isation) Explorer

Experimenting today with a polarising lens, which I got an an early birthday pressie from a friend (not my "special" day til Tues, but I'm getting to an age where I'm considering ignoring birthdays!!).

Have to admit, not entirely sure what it does or how I should be using it yet, but I reckoned I should just give it a go and see what happened...which was this! This shot was taken pretty much directly into the sun, and I really like the effect. These seed heads just look so delicate and beautiful, swaying in the icy afternoon breeze.
