The steaming heaps

I don't know whether the farmer has mounded up these steaming heaps, there are more out of shot, to ensure that those caravans do not end up in his field?

The travellers have been there for two days now, parked on the roundabout at the beginning of the foot/cycle path that I cross every morning on my walk. So far I haven't seen any people, although there are caravan doors open and washing on the fence etc. but I shall carry on walking through the middle of their encampment every day because it's a public path and I don't really want to change my route.

I know they've got to live somewhere, but do they really have to throw rubbish in the hedge? People would be much less against them if they didn't make such a mess.
