Demonstration in London in solidarity with the protestors in Hong Kong. What a turnout there was — BBC London News put it at about 2000!

I wasn't sure whether to go because of concerns that being seen might affect my future career, but I'm really glad I went because I think being absent wouldn't have sat well with my conscience.

As a bonus I had a brief conversation with a middle-aged Hong Kong couple who said they had been on the march in 1989 from Hyde Park to the Chinese Embassy in response to the Tiananmen Square incident. They were pleasantly surprised at how many people there were tonight. They felt they had to attend after seeing the images of HK police using tear gas on protestors.
